As Platforms Like Splice and BandLab Fuel an AI Audio Creation Boom, Highnote Helps Creators Manage Projects from Demo to Distribution
New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA — Today, Highnote, the leading audio collaboration platform, announced that it has secured $2.5M in additional funding, with participation from Dropbox Ventures, an investment initiative of Dropbox investing in the next generation of AI-powered apps and tools, alongside previous investors Afore Capital, Character Capital, Brooklyn Bridge Ventures, and Precursor Ventures. This latest round also welcomed new notable executives as angel investors from Figma, Atlassian, Abstract, and Dropbox, as well as several who previously invested from SoundCloud, Auth0, and Splice. This investment will further fuel Highnote’s work to better serve the needs of producers, mixing engineers, artists, influencers, and other creators across the growing audio value chain.
As music creation platforms like Splice and BandLab continue to integrate AI features that make it easier for creators to bring more audio to life, the volume of new tracks, songs, and projects is exploding. This rapid growth is leading to increased demand for tools that allow creators to easily share, discuss, and review audio, mixes, beat packs, and more. Highnote fills this gap in the post-creation process by providing a dedicated space for collaboration and feedback.
By centralizing communication, reducing rounds of revisions, and streamlining the workflow from demo to distribution, Highnote enables creators to collaborate efficiently on projects of any scale. Starting October 15th, a new Dropbox integration allows users to open any audio file from their Dropbox directly in Highnote for lossless playback, review, and notes. In November, the company will introduce a full 2-way integration, creating a seamless audio layer on top of any Dropbox account.
“We have so many opinions all of the time whether it’s from our own creatives, our teams, and the artist teams. To be able to understand and execute is so important. If you don’t understand what they want immediately, because of communication, you might lose out on a huge opportunity,” said Malibu Babie, producer for artists such as Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj. “Highnote just streamlines the communication process. Instead of having a million different text threads, or emails, it just puts it all into one platform so everybody can access it and see the same thing.”
"As AI accelerates content creation, content collaboration is at an all-time high," said Jordan Bradley, CEO and co-founder of Highnote. "We built the industry’s best audio workflow layer so that collaborators can stay organized, efficient, and in control—no matter how fast things are moving. This partnership with Dropbox Ventures allows us to deepen our commitment to creators and accelerate our plans to provide a foundational layer for AI powered audio workflows.”
Strategic Funding to Fuel AI-Driven Innovation
This partnership with Dropbox Ventures, which supports early-stage startups developing next-generation AI-powered tools, aims to reshape how people across the creative industries collaborate on audio projects. With this investment, Highnote plans to explore AI-powered features aimed at enhancing the creative process, including comment summarization, tone analysis, and creative recommendations—all seamlessly integrated into editing software to streamline the audio workflow and improve efficiency for creators.
“Freelancers and creators use Dropbox to store, share and collaborate on their content,” said Donald Tucker, Head of Corporate Development and Ventures at Dropbox. “Highnote’s platform and customer base align with our own, and we’re thrilled to partner with the team to help accelerate their goal of reshaping how people across the creative industries collaborate on audio projects.”
Highnote Reaches Higher
Building on recent collaborations with major players like Native Instruments and Output Arcade, Highnote continues to extend its platform to hundreds of thousands of audio professionals worldwide. Companies like Resemble AI count on Highnote to manage and streamline complex audio reviews for clients like Netflix, Paramount, and Red Games. And, The New York Times has relied on Highnote for more than a year, using the platform to collaborate on its award-winning podcast, The Daily.
